GAHHH!! Oh my goodness, guys! I am seriously geeking out over this cover!

As someone who has already read WHERE THE STARS STILL SHINE, I can say that this (THIS!) is the perfect cover. And the lights (THE LIGHTS!)… Okay, let’s just say that you’ll have to read the book to find out why the lights are just so… well, perfect.

In fact — and not at all speaking as a biased mega-fan — I do believe that
WHERE THE STARS STILL SHINE is guaranteed to be my #1 favorite book in 2013.

It’s THAT GOOD.

Here is the synopsis, in case you’re wondering what the book is about:

Stolen as a child from her large and loving family, and on the run with her mom for more than ten years, Callie has only the barest idea of what normal life might be like. She’s never had a home, never gone to school, and has gotten most of her meals from laundromat vending machines. Her dreams are haunted by memories she’d like to forget completely. But when Callie’s mom is finally arrested for kidnapping her, and Callie’s real dad whisks her back to what would have been her life, in a small town in Florida, Callie must find a way to leave the past behind. She must learn to be part of a family. And she must believe that love–even with someone who seems an improbable choice–is more than just a possibility.

It’s a very um… “twee”, carefree white girl kind of cover. Kind of bland… fits in with a lot of other white faceless girls in “pretty dresses” sort of thing. Doesn’t really match the summary… and why would a girl be tangled up in Christmas lights? That’s just weird.

Ah, but there is a purpose and a bit of a hidden meaning behind the cover… This photo relates to a very specific, and very touching, scene in the book. It will make perfect sense once you read it. ;)

I guess I’m just over carefree white girls in YA lit. I’ll pass on reading, I’m sure someone else will enjoy it.

I am sorry to hear that, Helena. The MC is Greek, not just “white” – There is plenty of “culture” in this book, regardless of the character’s color, but I do appreciate your input. You will be missing out on a great story.

I LOVES IT SO MUCH!!!!! I like how the girl in the dress is in the background, and yet the foreground is still visible and clear. The green and gold complement each other well. Great job, cover peoples! :D
