Freedom to Read Giveaway Hop

This week, Making the Grade is participating in the Freedom To Read Giveaway Hop, which is hosted by I Am a Reader, Not a Writer. Here on Making the Grade, we are giving away an ARC of TIGER LILY by Jodi Lynn Anderson.

I figured it was about time that I reveal to you my new venture as a book reviewer. Recently I had accepted a position as a young adult reviewer on the blog, Bookalicious.org. Since accepting the position I have posted a few reviews, one of which was for TIGER LILY by Jodi Lynn Anderson. Hop on over and take a look at the review! I am super excited about joining the Bookalicious.org review team! (My posts are roughly scheduled to go up once a week on Thursdays, so please be sure to follow me over there as well as here on Making the Grade!)

Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair. . . .

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn’t believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she’s ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland’s inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she’s always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it’s the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who’s everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

I just heard about Tiger Lily last week, and I am so excited to read it. I love alternate perspective stories on well-known classic tales, and she always seemed like a fierce character who never gets the limelight she deserves. I’m so glad to see such a talented writer taking up the cause and bringing Tiger Lily into the light (poor gal). Thanks!

When I first heard about this book I didn’t have much interest in it. Then I read some reviews and decided that it looked really interesting, especially when I heard that it’s from the P.O.V. of Tinkerbell. I think a relationship between Tiger Lily and Pan, post-Wendy, would be a compelling read.

This book looks very interesting. The only other Peter Pan interpretation I can think of that really focuses on Tiger Lily was the recent Sci Fi special and I was a bit disappointed with that. I have heard good things about this book, however!! Thanks!!!

I have to read Peter Pan because I am really only familiar with the Disney cartoon and some of the other movies, but I am definitely interested in reading about Tiger Lily. I am not sure how I feel about the story being told by Tinkerbell.
