Make it a Movie Monday: Delirium

This meme is a way to discuss the books that have made their way to film, or to talk about the books we wish would be made into a movie. You are open to talk about any book out there in any way that you want. For example: Who would you have play the leads in the movie? Who would direct? Animated or live action? Etc. This week my meme will focus on the DELIRIUM series by Lauren Oliver. As many of us already know, Lauren’s first book, BEFORE I FALL, is soon to hit the big screen… But what if the DELIRIUM series were to be picked up as well? Of course that got me wondering: Who would play Lena and Alex? Let me know if you agree with my selections below!

Jenna’s Delirium Dream Cast:

Lena Haloway - Alexandra Daddario
In DELIRIUM, Lena fell in love. In PANDEMONIUM, Lena joins a rebellion. No character has ever had to undergo the growth that she has in these two books. Alexandra played Annabeth Chase in the film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. She has also made several appearances on tv series, such as All My Children and Parenthood.She embodies the overall look and attitude that I have come to expect of Lena. I feel that she can easily play both an innocent girl in love, as well as a tough rebel.

Alex Sheathes – Max Irons
Alex is the “Invalid” that Lena fell in love with in DELIRIUM. He was taken down at the end of the book. His loss devastated Lena. I’m biased, Max Irons is the son of Jeremy Irons, an actor that I ADORE. But Max does have a certain playfulness to him that I believe is perfect for Alex. He was Henry in the film based on the YA novel, Red Riding Hood. He also plays Jared in the upcoming film based on Stephenie Meyer’s book, The Host.

Julian Fineman – Chord Overstreet
Son of the founder of the DFA (Deliria-Free America). He and Lena are forced together under unfortunate circumstances in PANDEMONIUM. He is still convinced that deliria is a killer disease. Chord has the rich-boy, innocent puppy-eyed look that I envision when thinking of Julian. His appearances have mainly been limited to television (Glee, anyone?) but I think that he has what  it takes to pull off this role.

Hana Tate – Nina Dobrev
Hana is Lena’s best friend with some secrets of her own. She will play a greater part in the story as events unfold in the third and final book, REQUIEM. I see hana as a friendly and carefree average teenager, but she does have a dark side. Best known for her role in The Vampire Diaries tv series, Nina would pull off the two sides to this coin with ease.

Gracie – Joey King
Lena’s silent cousin. Just look at her! Perfect innocence and oh-so-adorable! Joey is the first child star I thought of when casting for Gracie. Hopefully we learn her final fate in REQUIEM (and hopefully it’s a good one!) Joey is most recently known for her role as Ramona in the film, Ramona and Beezus, as well as the young Talia al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises.
